She retired lasted year from a hospital she worked at for over 25 years. She did not name a beneficiary with regards to her pension. I am her only chicld and next of kin. If she did not name anyone as beneficiary am I still able to make a claim?

It depends on how the pension was structured. Some pensions do not allow people to name a beneficiary and simply stop when the person dies. If your mother's pension allowed for naming a beneficiary and your mother simply failed to do so, you should look to the pension documents for an answer as to what happens in that event.
