There are a fair number of things to look at here, that you will need to go into with your attorney, and you absolutely need a lawyer to deal with this. If you need to find a lawyer, you can do that at http://attorneypages.com
Part of your own automobile insurance is what is called underinsured motorist coverage, which takes over when your damages are more than the other driver's insurance limit. You should take your insurance policy with you when you talk to your lawyer.
If the other driver owns a home or other property, you can go after that once you have gotten a judgment against him (after a trial or settlement). The sooner you see a lawyer and get the process started, the better.
