It really depends on who is reporting the incorrect data. If your data is being incorrectly reported by a government agency, then most agencies have procedures for correcting the inaccurate reporting of data. If your data is being incorrectly reported by consumer reporting agency, then you need to use the dispute resolution procedures similar to those for credit reports. Basically, you notify the reporting agency in writing of the incorrect reporting. The agency then has a duty to verify the data and update the report with the correct information.
